Library Technician – Nora Burnett
The Library supports the graduate and research programs at UTIAS by acquiring relevant books, journals, technical reports and theses, and by organizing these collections through lists and catalogues to make them available to staff and students. The UTIAS Library database, begun in 1986, now contains about 17,000 records for items acquired since 1986, as well as many older items of particular importance to UTIAS. Staff and students may access the database using a public terminal located in the Library.
In addition, the Library meets individual requests for books, journal articles, conference papers, theses, patents etc. not held by the UTIAS Library, by borrowing or buying copies from other University of Toronto libraries, external institutions especially the Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information or commercial vendors. The University of Toronto Library online catalogue (UTCat), a growing number of journal indexes (e.g. Medline, Current Contents, Wilson indexes) and the resources of the Internet, are available through a public terminal located in the Library.
U. of T. library cardholders may search world-wide aerospace literature on the Aerospace Database, or use journal indexes such as Current Contents and the Wilson indexes for more general searches.
