Fume hoods:
Fume hoods at the Institute are equipped with an alarm system called Vent-alert. If the fume hood is not working(i.e. the fan belt breaks), the alarm is activated. Immediately stop all work and pull the sash down, then contact P. Miras at 7723, or email Mr. P. Miras and let him know your fume hood is no longer working. He will contact the appropriate people to come and correct the problem. Do not use the fume hood until you are told that the problem has been fixed and the Vent-alert has been re-activated.
If you cannot contact him, feel free to contact any member of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee .
